Bill & Berna - RV Travels

Time to move on…

We spent two days here in the Great Sand Dunes National Park.  Time to move west to our next location near Ship Rock, AZ. After driving in flat terrain, at 7,500 feet, we are entering the mountains. Up, down, and twisting roads. Typical mountain driving except we are at 8,000 to 11,000 feet.

There are Magpies everywhere on the side of the road. They are such cool looking birds, black and white with blue wings.

The scenery is breathtaking, snow is on the ground here and it’s cold too. We crossed one mountain peak that was just shy of 11,000 feet. That created a record height in our travels on this trip.

No place to stop and take pictures though. Bummer.

We are leaving the mountains now, into northern New Mexico into the desert. What a juxtaposition of extremes, huge mountains with snow to low level desert growth. Such an extreme…

We arrived at the campground, not the prettiest, but functional for a few days…
